Truth With Gentleness

1 Peter 3:15 (WEB)

“But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts. Always be ready to give an answer to everyone who asks you a reason concerning the hope that is in you, with humility and fear.”

While building the Faith & Purpose page today, something bigger was placed on my heart.

People may arrive at a page about faith from very different places.

Some may already have a strong relationship with God.

Others may be skeptical, guarded, hurt by religion, unsure what they believe, or convinced they already understand what Christianity is.

That made me think carefully about the words I was putting on the page.

If I want someone to encounter God’s love, my words should not become an obstacle to it.

Peter reminds us that when we share the hope we have, the way we share it matters too.

We can hold firmly to truth without speaking from superiority.

We can share what we believe without pressuring someone.

We can listen with compassion.

We can speak with humility.

And we can leave room for God to work in a person’s heart in ways we cannot see.

The goal isn’t to win an argument about God.

It’s to leave room for someone to encounter Him.

Maybe sharing our faith faithfully means remembering that truth and love were never meant to compete with each other.

We can speak truth.

And we can speak it with gentleness.

Prayer

Heavenly Father,

Help me share Your truth with humility, gentleness, and love.

Keep pride out of my heart, give me compassion for people whose journey may look different from mine, and help my words point people toward You rather than push them away.

Teach me when to speak, when to listen, and how to leave room for Your Spirit to work.

May people encounter Your grace through the way I treat them.
