New Roots
Ephesians 4:22–24 (WEB)
“that you put away, as concerning your former way of life, the old man that grows corrupt after the lusts of deceit, and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new man, who in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of truth.”
Lately, God keeps bringing me back to roots.
Not just how deep they grow—but what is growing there.
Some roots may come from fear, negative thinking, old wounds, unhealthy beliefs, or ways of thinking about God that no longer reflect His love and grace.
Paul writes about putting away the old, being renewed in our minds, and putting on the new.
Maybe growth sometimes means letting God show us what no longer belongs.
Fear can give way to faith.
Condemnation to grace.
Old thinking to renewed thinking.
The goal isn’t just deeper roots.
It’s new roots growing in the right place.
Prayer
Heavenly Father,
Show me what no longer belongs in my life.
Renew my mind, heal what needs healing, and replace fear and old thinking with Your truth, grace, and love.
Help me grow from the roots up.
